The story of Treehouse Silver dates back to 1980 in Tombstone, Arizona, where local miner Fred Libby and his newlywed wife Connie were simply trying to feed their family like any other. Fred started working at the State of Main Mining Company, working his way up to managing the precipitation unit, which separates and recovers pure silver from ore. Over time, Fred became fascinated with the creation of silver crystals, eventually trading half his paycheck for prettiest of crystals! To preserve them he placed the crystals in small vials to display and soon began Treehouse Silver!
3. The Birth of Treehouse Silver
In the late 1980s, the silver market dropped. Mines were shut down and many miners found themselves without a job. Fred found work as a consultant to small mines in Mexico and Canada, but over time this job became unfulfilling while travel requirements meant much time spent away from home. That’s when Fred and Connie started Treehouse Silver! The couple opened the business full-time, setting up operations in their home in Saint David, Arizona. They purchased old mining equipment and began producing silver and copper crystals that they would sell in vials to gift shops!
4. “Torpedos” Were Invented by Treehouse Silver
Over time the couple noticed gold becoming increasingly popular, so Fred went to work on giving them just what they wanted! He crafted “1-Dollar” vials he called “torpedos” that were filled with 24 karat gold leaf and later shipped out to museums and gift shops across the country by Connie. These torpedoes were an instant hit among customers! It didn’t take long for orders to rapidly flow into Treehouse Silver. Customers were so impressed they began doubling and even tripling their orders starting a true gold rush from Treehouse Silver!
